THE COMMITTEES

At Terra MUN, we bring the authentic United Nations experience to life with four prestigious international committees. Delegates are immersed in an environment that mirrors the real UN, providing them with a platform to debate pressing global issues while honing their diplomatic and negotiation skills. The committees include the General Assembly (Plenary), a forum for all member states to discuss and solve key global concerns, the Security Council, which is a double delegation committee addressing peace and security, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), focusing on sustainable development and economic policy, and COP 29, centered around combating climate change and environmental protection. Each committee is designed to provide an unforgettable, realistic experience for participants.

UN General Assembly Plenary (UNGA Plenary):

The UNGA Plenary is the primary forum for multilateral discussion on a wide array of global issues. All member states are represented, making it a broad and inclusive body where global policies are debated and developed. In this committee, delegates will address significant challenges ranging from peace and security to human rights and sustainable development, all while navigating the complexities of international consensus-building.

The Security Council is charged with maintaining international peace and security. In Terra MUN, this prestigious committee operates as a double-delegation format, with two delegates representing each country. Delegates will engage in intense, real-time crisis simulations, work on conflict resolution, and authorize international interventions. The dynamic nature of this committee requires strategic thinking and collaboration, especially with the added power of the permanent members’ veto.

ECOSOC focuses on promoting economic, social, and environmental advancement worldwide. Delegates will dive into discussions on sustainable development, economic policy, and social justice, addressing issues such as poverty, inequality, and access to education and healthcare. This committee is ideal for those interested in shaping the policies that influence economic and social outcomes on a global scale.

Conference of the Parties 29 (COP 29):

COP 29 is the latest iteration of the global climate summit, where countries come together to discuss and commit to addressing the urgent crisis of climate change. Delegates will work on innovative solutions for reducing emissions, adapting to climate impacts, and financing green initiatives. This committee will offer delegates the chance to shape the future of environmental policy and contribute to the global fight against climate change.
